This is a printout version of an element of the read/write catalog of the Rietveld and Sandberg Library.
This form reminds users that a catalog is an on-going construction, and opens a path for them to intervene in it.
MODS are an experimental intervention that allow and invite non-librarians to engage with the ongoing writing of the library catalog.
Use this form — with care — to propose an operation on a record, such as an ADDition, a REMoval, a MODification, or raising an issue with a BUT.
With an ADD operation you propose an ADDition to this record. You can add keywords (690), notes and descriptions (590), or external resources, e.g. links to digital materials (856).
With a MOD operation you propose a MODification of this record. You can propose simple changes to keywords (6xx) as well as a less trivial change to the classification code (084)!
With a REM operation you propose a REMoval to this record.
You can propose to remove keywords and subject headings (6xx).
With a BUT operation you question anything about this record. You can raise new issues or join an existing conversation. This is never a straight forward operation!
How might we use standards not as truth-telling mechanisms, but as doorways into conversations among ourselves and other standards-making bodies in higher education? *
